Piano virtuoso Emanuel Ax stars in DSO webcast


(DETROIT, February 16, 2012)–Living piano legend Emanuel Ax will perform Mozart’s Piano concerto No. 22  on the latest episode of the DSO’s “Live from Orchestra Hall” webcast series on Friday, Feb. 17 at 10:35 a.m. DSO Music Director Leonard Slatkin will conduct the program, which also features Mahler’s Fifth Symphony.

“Live From Orchestra Hall” has been viewed by nearly 50,000 viewers in more than 40 countries. Last weekend’s episode drew more than 15,000 viewers from around the world; a record for the series. These webcasts are produced in partnership with Detroit Public Television.

The concert will air in its entirety on Friday, Feb. 17 at 10:35 a.m., complete with host Alex Trajano presenting pre-concert and intermission features. The special guests this week are Conducting Assistant Charles Greenwell, Mahler scholar Gilbert Kaplan, and Jeff Forster, Vice President of Production for Detroit Public Television.
